BEI’s Poly Pro polypropylene material guidance extends up to approximately 200°F (93.3°C). At 170°F (76.7°C), that figure is an initial screening point, not automatic approval for every storage tank.
What 170°F (76.7°C) means for Polypropylene
At 170°F, include fitting loads, support conditions, and thermal expansion in the review, along with chemical concentration. Higher temperatures can change the strength and long-term behavior of thermoplastics. The tank’s 1.9 specific-gravity rating should not be assumed at elevated temperature unless it is confirmed for that model.
What to confirm before specifying a tank
Send BEI the chemical and concentration, continuous and peak liquid temperature, required capacity and fill level, specific gravity, operating cycles, fittings and piping loads, and installation conditions. Chemical compatibility must be checked at the actual temperature. A short-lived temperature excursion and continuous storage at the same temperature are different design cases.
