Custom Glycol Makeup Tanks for Data Center OEMs

Custom glycol makeup tanks provide atmospheric storage for coolant replenishment in data-center cooling infrastructure. Bailiff Enterprises manufactures plastic storage tanks for OEM equipment layouts in Willis, Texas, with shipment nationwide. Final material, dimensions and connections depend on the coolant and approved project design.

Makeup storage versus circulating equipment

A makeup tank supplies a separate transfer or makeup package; it is not a pressurized expansion vessel or a coolant distribution unit (CDU). The tank may store fluid near ambient conditions even when the circulating loop is hotter. Specify the actual maximum storage and fill temperatures.

OEM manufacturing requirements

Repeatable tank configurations can include project-specific fitting placement, access openings, vent connections, level instrument provisions and containment. Confirm the manufacturing method, geometry and connection schedule for each proposed resin. Size-by-material matrix: Ask Bailiff for the current size-by-material offerings; not every resin is available in every standard tank size.. See Bailiff tank products.

Coolant chemistry and venting

Specify propylene glycol (PG) or ethylene glycol (EG), concentration, coolant product, corrosion inhibitors, biocides and cleaning agents. EG requires different toxicity and disposal considerations. Some direct-to-chip technology cooling loop guidance describes inhibited PG formulations, but the exact concentration must come from the project coolant specification. Neat-glycol compatibility charts do not approve formulated coolant.

Atmospheric venting must accommodate filling and withdrawal. A correctly specified filtered breather may reduce debris entry, subject to the coolant supplier’s requirements. For translucent natural-color HDPE, confirm available opaque or black tank options if light exposure is a concern. Outdoor installations require evaluation of the specific tank’s UV exposure and low-temperature impact conditions.

Frequently asked questions

Can the same configuration be ordered repeatedly?

Yes, subject to approved manufacturing details and order scheduling.

Can the makeup tank be pressurized?

Standard Bailiff tanks are atmospheric; a separate pressure-rated system is required for pressurized service.

Are approval drawings available?

Project approval drawings are part of Bailiff’s order review process; confirm the drawing scope in the quotation.
